Disable Claim for Listeo: Client Guide
Client guide for controlling where Listeo claim buttons appear by listing type and category, including hidden and disabled-message modes.
Purpose. Disable Claim for Listeo gives marketplace owners precise control over which listings can be claimed by users.
What it controls
The plugin can disable the Listeo claim flow by listing type and by category. You can fully hide the claim button or keep a disabled-looking button that shows a custom message when clicked.
Listing typesDisable claims for selected Listeo listing types.
CategoriesDisable claims for selected global or type-specific categories.
Hide modeRemove the claim section entirely.
Message modeShow a blocked claim action with your own explanation.
Setup
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Open the Disable Claim settings screen under ListingPilot.
- Select listing types where claims should not be allowed.
- Select categories where claims should not be allowed.
- Choose whether to hide the claim button or show a disabled message.
- Save settings and test representative listings.
Recommended policy
Use claim disabling when ownership should be handled manually, when listings are managed by your team, when a category is reserved for partners, or when a listing type should never be user-claimed.
| Scenario | Recommended setting |
|---|---|
| Claiming is never allowed for a type | Disable by listing type and hide the button. |
| Only some categories are restricted | Disable by category. |
| Users need an explanation | Use disabled-message mode with a support instruction. |
| Temporary restriction | Use category rules and document the reason for support staff. |
Testing checklist
- A restricted listing does not open the claim dialog.
- An unrestricted listing still allows normal Listeo claim behavior.
- Category-specific rules work for each relevant listing type.
- The custom message is clear and does not imply a technical error.
- Mobile listing pages are checked.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Claim still appears | Check the listing type, category assignment, cache, and whether the selected category taxonomy matches the listing type. |
| Claim is hidden everywhere | Review selected listing types and categories for overly broad rules. |
| Message does not show | Confirm hide mode is disabled and a custom message is saved. |
